Our Management

Professionals with more than 30 years of experience each

Dr. Detlev Ruland and Peter Jumpertz have created GFGBA, acting as managing directors. They are leveraging their network of trusted personal relationships with decision-makers from virtually all stakeholder groups in the German energy industry. It includes transmission grid operators, distribution grid operators, the regulatory bodies, members of relevant state governments, and C-level executives of key suppliers and vendors.

Both founders are uniquely positioned to deal effectively with the go-to-market challenges of the platform.

GFGBA’s management is working with a team of experts in the areas of electricity supply, sales and trading, BESS technology, engineering, and energy market regulation.

Peter Jumpertz, MBA

Peter Jumpertz holds both a master’s degree in business administration and a master's degree in management sciences from Columbia University in New York.

He has worked for over 30 years as a manager responsible for, as co-founder, and co-owner of successful companies in the fields of advisory services, real estate & asset development, and top-management consulting.

He draws on two decades of experience in the energy industry in Germany and Europe. Many of the projects he was significantly involved in, dealt with the development, implementation, and commercialization of high-quality innovation ideas.

His special expertise lies in the development of value creation, configuration, application, and operation concepts in the area of large-scale battery-electric storage systems.

His strong judgment regarding the position, expectations, and intentions of critical stakeholders - from owners to key suppliers to unions, regulation, and politics - make him ideal for the challenges of developing profitable large-scale battery plants in Germany.

Dr. Detlev Ruland

Detlev Ruland holds a PhD in mathematics and a habilitation in computer science, with a focus on AI.

He has more than 35 years of experience in top-management consulting and management positions in large corporations.

His industry experience includes high-tech and electrical engineering, IT, energy, and logistics.

He has held senior positions in several large international companies - both in consulting and in line management at division and group level.

He has extensive expertise in planning and managing large-scale projects, as well as managing complex corporate structures. Building and leading demanding teams is one of his core competencies.

Detlev Ruland has both an in-depth understanding of the industry and an extensive relationship network in the German and international energy industry.

He covers almost all areas of the supply chain - from mining to generation and distribution to sales and customer service.

Our Advisory Board – established to actively guide our management – embodies the key success factors of the GFGBA business: a deep and thorough understanding of the technical, economical, and personal determinants of the entire German energy system.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Werner Brinker

Werner Brinker has more than 40 years of experience in the energy industry and many years of experience in managing one of the largest energy and utility companies in Germany with subsidiaries in Poland and Turkey. As a university-qualified engineer, he has extensive knowledge of the technical and economic relationships in the natural gas and water industries as well as the construction and operation of the associated networks, including the construction and operation of caverns for storing natural gas.

As CEO of the fifth-largest energy supplier in Germany, he intensively drove the development of information and telecommunications technologies after the liberalization of the energy markets. His goal was to enable the integration of increasingly decentralized electricity production from renewables such as wind and sun with the help of smart power grids.

He was also responsible for the construction of the first German offshore wind farm. In addition to his work as CEO, he was President of the Association of the German Electricity Industry (VdEW) for six years and in this role carried out the merger with the Federal Association of the German Gas and Water Industry (BGW) to form today's Federal Association of the German Energy and Water Industry (BDEW).

After two periods at the helm of the VdEW and BDEW, he took over the chairmanship of the Forum for Future Energies (FfZ) in Berlin for eight years. After retiring from active professional life, he taught as an honorary professor at the universities of Oldenburg and Novosibirsk until the outbreak of the Corona epidemic. He has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Uniper SE since 2020 and chairs the Sustainability Committee.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Kleinekorte

Klaus Kleinekorte has more than 30 years of experience in grid management and the operation of power grids.

He has in-depth, detailed knowledge of the economic and physical interrelationships of grid operations and is familiar with all aspects of their intricate systemic interdependencies.

As long-time Chairman of the "System Operation Group" in Europe, he played a key role in establishing the European "Operation Code", which is now binding for all transmission system operators.

He held various management positions at one of the largest transmission system operators in Europe.

In his role as Chief Technology Officer and member of the Executive Board, he was responsible for transmission grid planning and asset management, grid operations and system management.

He is teaching at RWTH Aachen University in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering with a tenure of over ten years, focusing on the subject “Fundamentals of System Management in the Transmission Grid.” RWTH Aachen University has been part of the German Federal and State Excellence Initiative in 2007 and 2012.

Klaus Kleinekorte has both a deep technical understanding of systems and detailed regulatory knowledge about the procurement of system services (balancing energy) and network fee calculations.

Due to his commitment to energy policy, he can rely on a large national and international network of relationships.
